Georgia Virtual Office

What is a virtual office address, and how does it work?

arrow_drop_down

A virtual office address is physical street address that your company can lease to use as its principal business without being actually located at that address. You get the legitimacy of a commercial address without the overhead and hassle of renting out a brick-and-mortar office.

For example, if you’re an entrepreneur running a tech startup out of your garage, and you don’t want to use your home address as your business address on official documents, you can get a virtual office address.

Can I use a virtual office address for an LLC in Georgia?

arrow_drop_down

You can list a virtual office address as your principal office mailing address on your LLC Articles of Organization in Georgia (or on your Articles of Incorporation if you’re forming a corporation), as long as that address is an actual street address. PO Boxes are not allowed.

Can I get my mail sent to a virtual address in Georgia?

arrow_drop_down

Many virtual office address providers also offer mail management services so you can use your virtual office address as your company’s mailing address. Virtual Office Georgia LLC’s Virtual Office Service includes unlimited mail scanning.

Can I use my virtual office address with the IRS or a bank?

arrow_drop_down

You can use your virtual office address with the IRS (keep in mind that you still have to use your home address on your personal income taxes).

Many banks will accept a virtual address, but some won’t. Check with your bank to find out their exact requirements.

Georgia Registered Agent

What is a registered agent?

arrow_drop_down

A registered agent is the person or company you appoint as responsible for accepting lawsuits or other legal documents sent to your business by the state.

Unless you appoint one of your company’s owners or managers as your registered agent, your agent is simply a third party who makes sure you receive legal notices on time and doesn’t have any control over the day-to-day operations of your business or any ownership rights or interest.

What does a registered agent do?

arrow_drop_down

Your registered agent is expected to be available throughout the year at their registered office address during normal business hours so that they can accept any service of process sent to your company. (If your registered agent isn’t there, the service of process agent won’t deliver your documents.)

Do I need a registered agent for an LLC in Georgia?

arrow_drop_down

All Georgia LLCs (and all out-of-state LLCs registered to do business in Georgia) are required by law to have a registered agent.

You must list your agent’s name and registered office address on your company’s formation or foreign registration paperwork, or your paperwork will not be accepted by the state.

How does using an RA service help protect your privacy?

arrow_drop_down

Like your principal business address, your registered agent’s address becomes part of the public record when you file your business formation or foreign registration paperwork (and therefore, available to the public through the Georgia Business Search database).

Using a registered agent service prevents you from having to put down your own address or the address of your place of business.

Keep your home address off your business formation paperwork and Georgia Business Search database. Use your virtual office address (with a suite number that’s specific to your business) or the free business address we provide with registered agent service in any of the address fields on your Articles of Organization or Incorporation. Then list our name and registered agent address in the registered agent name and registered office fields.

Our business address is stable, so you can change locations, operate in multiple locations, or even abandon the idea of having a set location at all while maintaining the same business address—perfect for startups and online businesses. Access your registered agent documents and your business mail anywhere or anytime by logging in to your secure online portal.

If you’re a freelancer or a side-hustler working from home or running an online business, your customers may not be very impressed if they look up your business and see a residential address. Use a virtual office address to build trust and credibility with customers. And with Registered Agent Service, you’ll never get served a lawsuit in front of clients or your neighbors (which may destroy that trust—or at the very least, be very embarrassing).

Our Registered Agent Service saves you from the inconvenience of acting as your own agent and the dangers of appointing an unreliable employee or acquaintance. Plus, we include enrollment in Renewal Service for Annual Report filing, so you never miss a filing.

To get both services, order Registered Agent Service and add Virtual Office at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about our services

Can I use a virtual office address to form my company?

arrow_drop_down

Yes! In Georgia, you can list your virtual office address as your principal office mailing business address and as the address of any of your organizers (LLC) or incorporators (corporation).

Can I use my VO address as my registered agent address?

arrow_drop_down

You cannot use your virtual office address as your registered office address (the address for your registered agent). You must use the address where your registered agent will be physically available to accept service of process deliveries during regular business hours. If you use your virtual office address, no one will be on hand to receive your documents, and they will not be delivered.

If you hire us as your registered agent, we will provide you with the specific address we use to receive legal notices and document deliveries.

Can I serve as my own registered agent in Georgia?

arrow_drop_down

Serving as your own registered agent is allowed in Georgia. However, keep in mind that you have to list the street address where you will be available to accept any possible legal document deliveries M-F during normal business hours, all year round.

If you will not be located at a single address or if you do not want to make your home or business address available to the public through the Georgia Business Search database, you should hire a registered agent service instead of serving as your own agent.

Do I get a registered agent before or after company formation?

arrow_drop_down

Because your registered agent’s address must be listed on your Articles of Organization (LLC) or Articles of Incorporation (corporation), you need to get registered agent service before you file your formation paperwork.

arrow_drop_down

If you don’t have a registered agent, you won’t be able to receive service of process or other important legal notices from the state, which could lead to legal trouble.

Additionally, you will be in violation of Georgia state statutes, which require all LLCs and corporations to maintain a registered agent for the life of the company. If you are found to be in violation of this law, you could lose your good standing with the Secretary of State, be held responsible for fines related to your violation, or face other administrative penalties.
